During my undergraduate studies, one thing that bothered me the most was that there was no student organization/society/club that was specifically set up to work in the area of Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development. I took it upon myself to change it. Soon after my graduation, I spoke with my now former teachers about starting a student organization that would encourage the students to provide sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions to everyday problems faced by the community at large. I wanted my juniors to have the opportunity that I did not have.

With the help of the faculty, I established 'SHAASHWAT' (Sanskrit for something that's eternal) an eco-sustainability club. This was in the year 2017.  Currently, Members of SHAASHWAT have undertaken multiple projects some of which are: river cleaning, eco-friendly idol-making [during the Ganesh festival], tree plantation drives, testing of the river water for potability, and countless awareness drives.
