Zancada Graduate Fellows Program (2023 - 2024 Cohort) - University of New Mexico

The Zancada — Spanish word for stride — program creates a cohort of future leaders in science, technology, humanities, and the arts who are well-prepared and committed to finding interdisciplinary, actionable, and meaningful solutions to global problems.

I am currently a part of this fellowship program. The program has provided me with extraordinary opportunity to interact with prominent figures in the University Leadership and research community. This program is fostering an atmosphere of collaboration, networking and effective communication.

As I begin this fellowship, I am eagerly anticipating the growth and development of essential skills. Adaptability, problem-solving, and networking will be at the forefront of my learning curve. The Zancada Fellowship is the foundation upon which I will build these skills, shaping me into a future leader and problem solver in an ever-changing world.

I am excited to share this early stage of my journey with you and look forward to the experiences and growth that the Zancada Fellowship promises to bring. Join me as I take my first strides toward becoming a future leader and making a meaningful impact on a global scale.

LeadEARTH Fellowship (2014 - 2015 Cohort)

LEADearthSHIP, a youth program was launched by The Energy and Resources Institute - India (TERI) in August 2013 focusing on leadership and sustainability. I was awarded this fellowship with 29 others in 2014. The objective of the programme is to develop competencies in young people that are relevant for creating an empowered workforce which would work towards building low carbon societies. This includes creating learning opportunities for students that complements and builds on the knowledge, skills and values acquired through education.

My project - 'Green Dream' was chosen for implementation in the schools of Pune city. The Project aimed at inculcating the habit of keeping the environment in mind while taking all micro-level decisions.

I reached out to more than 500 school students (10-15 yrs of age) directly by interacting with them and presenting to them the ways in which they can contribute towards sustainable development. I spoke on three major topics: reducing carbon footprint, waste management, green building and green schools. The topics were chosen keeping in mind the age of the audience. I further established Sustainable Development Clubs (S.D. Clubs) as a part of which interested students could carry forward the chain that I started.

Skills I learnt: Public speaking, Communication and Project Management
