Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety
As a research assistant at the USDOT center for Pedestrian and Bicyclist safety I am currently working on a project to identify areas of high crash frequency on the state owned roads in the state of New Mexico.
Public Transit (user and accessibility focus)
My doctoral dissertation focused on understanding how user personas rely on transit systems to provide an in-depth understanding of varied needs of the diverse user personas, to promote equity and inclusion through policy change. This part of my doctoral dissertation aims to work towards targets 10.2 (empower and promote the social, economic, and political inclusion of all) and 11.2 (access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transportation systems for all) of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Public Transit (safety focus)
A second area that my dissertation focused on is to understand how bus rapid transit system has impacted traffic safety along the transit corridor for all road users. Currently I am working on understanding how BRT affects traffic speed and traffic calming efforts.
Public Transit (policy focus)
A third area of my dissertation focused on how fare policy impacts transit ridership. This study examined the impact of Boston’s fare-free bus routes on post-COVID ridership recovery, using route-level data to compare trends across free and non-free routes.
Inclusive Corridors: Planning with radical empathy
This research work was in collaboration with the Mid Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC), to understand how the proposed Transit Oriented Development plans of MORPC will affect the neighborhood in terms of gentrification, displacement, and change in travel behavior.
